Little light at the end of the tunnel.....

Alright so there's good news and there's bad news. The bad news is that after my last weigh in I got really lazy about counting calories and going back to yoga. It became very tedious and exhausting to have to put in so much work. The good news is, that as of today, i'm actually 3 lbs lighter than I was during my last weigh in. My weight this morning was 226 bringing my total weight loss to 10 lbs. I know that had I continued to work at it, I would now be maybe 6-7 lbs lighter but on the bright side, i'm closer to my goal than I was yesterday. I know most people look to outside sources for inspiration whenever they're feeling defeated but I actually look to myself. Over the past few days, I've found several photos of when I was 15, 16, even photos from 5 years ago. These are the pictures that inspire me the most because it reminds me of what i'm capable of. Not that pictures of fitness models and inspirational quotes and all that other stuff doesn't inspire me, it does, but it's a little more personal and motivating when you can inspire yourself. So in case you're curious, these are the picture's I've found...

15 years old......

17 years old......

26 years old......

With that being said.....back to yoga tonight! Stay healthy my friends!

Week 2 weigh in.......

It's been a tough week. I've learned a lot about what foods and drinks are good and which I should COMPLETELY stay away from. After all this, and introducing Bikram Yoga to my routine, the magic number is:

                        229.6

Yup, another 3.4 lbs lost. My personal goal for this week was to get into the 220's so I was rather excited to see that number. Adding Bikram yoga to my routine really made me change the way I was eating during the first week. I definitely have to drink a lot more water because passing out during yoga is not fun. Because my class ends at 10 p.m. and I don't get home until 10:30 p.m., I have to make sure to just have something really light I can eat if I'm hungry. Usually I've opted for fruit, Greek yogurt, or a 100 calorie pack of Snack Well's Chocolate Chip Cookies (Sooooo good lol). I've also learned what to completely stay away from. As much as it pains me, le ugh, i've discovered that Pinot Grigio will be the death of me with this diet. I love wine, i do, but i have to cut it out completely if this diet is going to be effective. I'm getting into the habit of weighing myself every morning. Usually my weight goes down by half a pound every morning. The morning after I had 2 glasses of wine, it went up by 1 lb. No Bueno!! So there you go. With all that being said, the energy level is still up, motivation is still at 100%, and the beach body is starting to show. :)

Stay healthy my friends!!!

Week 1 weigh-in.........

So after one week of watching what I eat, counting calories, and my biggest challenge, drinking lots and lots of water, my weight at the end of Week 1 is:

                                                    233

Yup, I've lost 3lbs is a little less than a week. It's a small step in the right direction towards a rather large goal so I'm happy with it. My diet this week has mainly consisted of eating almost anything I want but only in smaller portions.  Even though I have the freedom to choose what I want to eat, I'm opting for healthier choices: Instead of chips I eat baby carrots with some a little bit of almond butter, instead of a slice of pizza I'll have a turkey sandwich on wheat bread, instead of cake or some decadent desert, I'll have cottage cheese with fruit. The most challenging thing for me this week was cutting down on Diet Coke intake. If you know me, you know that I drink Diet Coke all day everyday for breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between. It's gotten to the point where there have been days that I never drank water at all. The first two days were pretty rough I can't lie. I had headaches towards the afternoon and drinking water made me feel really bloated. However, as the week progressed I did begin to feel better and didn't crave soda anymore. When I do have an urge to drink something besides water, I go with Crystal Light Iced Tea. It's calms the craving and its only 5 calories.

The end of week 1 was successful. I lost a couple of pounds, didn't starve and I'm still motivated. Next week, I will introduce Bikram Yoga into the diet. I'm already excited for next weigh-in.  :)

Stay healthy my friends!!!

This is the scariest moment of my life thus far.....

I'm going to share something with you right now that I've never shared with anyone ever. I don't talk about this, I avoid conversations regarding this subject, its just not something that I or most women like to talk about. I stepped on the scale this morning for the first time in 4 years and I was shocked to see the number that came up.....236. ( I actually can't believe i'm writing this). I stepped back off, let the scale take a moment to rethink its answer and stepped back on. Nope....the number did not change. It still said 236 lbs. My first thought was "I need to slow down with the Cuban bread". This is by far the heaviest I've ever been in my entire life.  I would like to sit here and tell you that it doesn't bother me, that i'm completely happy with the way I look and that I wouldn't change how I look for anything...but I know that I would be lying to you and more importantly to myself. Anyone that knows me knows that I'm a confident person, I've never had any sort of complex at all but I personally don't feel healthy and now that I've entered my 30's I've realized that i'm not getting any younger. And quite frankly i'm tired of going on doctors visits and having them tell me "Well Eloisa you're completely healthy except you could afford to loose some weight"......REALLY?!?!?!? lol). So from now on, I'm counting calories (not on my own ofcourse, cause i'm not that responsible), I'm signed on to a weight loss plan and I'm going back to Bikram yoga this week. I'm ready to make this transformation for life this time.  I'll be updating this blog on a regular basis. Most likely it will happen on Mondays once I step on the scale. I'll post my workouts, meals, etc. I'm going to be sharing this with you all for a couple of reasons:

1. I want you all to understand where I'm coming from. So in the event that I decline and invitation to go out to dinner, or for drinks, please know that the further away I am from temptation, the better.

2. I would hope that maybe someone would be inspired by this and make the decision to better themselves in any way they see fit. If not, that's ok too. :)
